Frequently Asked Questions
What exactly does Leitstern do? Are you lawyers? Consultants?
That's a great question! We are both, and neither. Leitstern is no law firm. This means that we do not offer legal services. However, data privacy has a legal background, and so do we.
We strive to develop standardized plug and play solutions for your company. If a problem requires more sophisticated or more individualized legal support, we can connect you to specialized attorneys within our network. The same is true for other more specific needs, such as registering a DPO on the ground in certain EU member states.
Our network is our strength, and we are looking forward to sharing it with you.
Why should we choose Leitstern over other options, such as law firms, or internal solutions?
The ideal solution depends on your individual needs. We think that Leitstern's offers are a good fit for many, but not all, situations. The versatility of our services is an advantage of our approach.
First, you pay what you need. If you just want to book one or two quick trainings, that's fine. If you decide that you require ongoing compliance support, we can offer that, too.
Second, you get what you need. Internal DPOs are experts in their specific fields but might lack the knowledge to handle unusual situations. Leitstern has a broad variety of privacy knowledge from various sources and backgrounds.
Third, there is no administrative overhead, no billing in 6-minute increments, and no lengthy "legalese" documents. Leitstern embraces a practical, efficient, solution-focused approach.
What are Leitstern's main areas of expertise?
We think that compliance requires a holistic approach. Privacy law and regulations are, of course, one of our main strengths. However, this does not mean that we're limited to it.
Wherever you need practical advice on compliance solutions, we have it. The fields of accessibility, diversity, or corporate governance all pose unique challenges, but all these areas are essential to our work.
Geographically, we focus on the U.S. and Europe, and mainly on the needs of U.S. businesses that are operating within the EU, but most of our compliance approaches can be easily applied to different jurisdictions.
